Art and design is notable at Boundary Oak where we nurture and celebrate the talents and passions of each of our pupils and encourage them to develop their artistic creativity.
Many opportunities are provided for pupils to explore and foster their creative potential through mixed media including fine art, photography, fashion and textiles, wire sculpture and clay work, pottery and print-making.
A schedule of museum and gallery visits both in the UK and overseas, helps develop their understanding, interpretation and appreciation of these arts.
In addition to being a subject taught to all year groups, by specialist teachers, there are also a host of co-curricular clubs to supplement this offering and to develop pupils’ passions. These include; textiles, pottery and ceramics, art portfolio, painting, mindfulness colouring, life drawing and photography. Pupils also have the opportunity to enter a larger number of national competitions each year through ISA and IAPS.
Pupils wishing to develop their creative skills can choose to take art and design GCSE. A two-year course, it supports their ability to appreciate the visual world and to respond in an individual way, developing them as creative thinkers. It also fosters their ability to conceptualise, and improve skill sets such as research and analysis to inspire their own portfolio, reflecting personal interpretations, ideas and emotions.
Anyone whose passion is art will really be able to make full use of the beautiful art studio – it’s the perfect place to leave the world behind you and be creative!
